Manager, Marketing and Community Engagement
Job Summary:
The Tianqiao and Chrissy Chen Institute (Chen Institute) is seeking a seasoned Marketing & Community Engagement Manager for science programs, reporting directly to the Assistant Director of Conferences. In this role, you will be instrumental in crafting and executing innovative marketing campaigns, developing engaging content, and building a robust network to support our mission of advancing scientific research. Your expertise will not only amplify our visibility but also foster meaningful connections within the scientific community.
You will also be responsible for community engagement, developing, and implementing strategies to engage with diverse scientific audiences, cultivating strong relationships, and enhancing our community’s involvement in our initiatives. Your expertise in community building will be crucial in driving support, participation, and enthusiasm for our groundbreaking research and events.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Planning:
- Support and implement marketing strategies (paid advertising, grassroots outreach, traditional media, digital media, networking events) to grow the Chen Institute’s scientific network and social following
- Create operational workflows within the company to maximize efficiency
Content Development:
- Content generation for all marketing and promotional materials for the institute, including but not limited to major news announcements around key scientific programs, promotional newsletters, and the company’s annual report
- Work with an international team to ensure all promotional materials are delivered on an agreed upon timeline with proper language translations
- Ensure consistency in brand messaging and identity across all marketing materials
- Manage the creation of marketing materials, including brochures, printed materials, and presentations for domestic/global conferences, summer schools, and Chen Institute branded events
- Develop and manage website copy, content calendar, and content audits
Campaign Management:
- Connect with scientific influencers, manage online advertising, and identify PR opportunities utilizing both in-house resources and external partners
- Monitor campaign performance, analyze data, and optimize strategies for ongoing maximum effectiveness through user testing and web analytics
- Seek out new partnerships and promotional activities that promote scientific work and the Chen Institute’s high valued researchers, such as hackathons, fireside chats, and award ceremonies
Event Management:
- Plan, organize, and execute trade show events, workshops, sponsorship related activities from conception to completion
- Align with all internal teams on needs and requirements for each event to ensure all aspects of event are planned accordingly
- Oversee various registration systems and communication strategy to registered attendees
- Manage third party vendors to execute on high-level events and logistical tasks
- Input data and manage internal sponsorship/volunteer system
Talent Network and Community Engagement:
- Actively engage a network of scientists, young scholars, students, and volunteers through various digital platforms to strengthen network connections through organizing community activities
- Develop outreach programs within universities and scientific associations
- Moderate community channels and provide consistent high quality content
Qualifications:
- Minimum 5+ years of experience in marketing roles and relevant fields
- Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Business, or a related field.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and project management skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
